Designing Sustainable Landscapes Datasets
- Title:
- Designing Sustainable Landscapes Datasets
- Description:
-
Spatial datasets created for the Designing Sustainable Landscapes (DSL) Project, a landscape conservation project applied to date to 13 states in the Northeastern United States. The purpose is to provide guidance for strategic habitat conservation by assessing ecological integrity and landscape capability for a suite of representative species across the landscape. Assessments are done for both the current landscape and potential future landscapes, as modified by an urban growth model and models of climate change and sea level rise. The DSL project provides much of the basis of conservation planning tools for Nature's Network and Connect the Connecticut. Designing Sustainable Landscapes is a project of the Landscape Ecology Lab at theUniversity of Massachusetts (Kevin McGarigal, Bradley Compton, Ethan Plunkett, and William DeLuca, with significant contributions from Joanna Grand, Liz Willey, Scott Jackson, Andrew Milliken, and Scott Schwenk). It is supported primarily by the North Atlantic Landscape Conservation Cooperative (NALCC), with additional support from the Northeast Climate Adaptation Science Center (NECSC) and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
